MCRB/DICA Workshop Series on Responsible Business
The Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA)’s Yangon office hosted MCRB for a series of training workshops to DICA staff between 6 – 22 March. The workshops focused on DICA’s role in promoting responsible business in Myanmar.
The trainings built on previous MCRB/DICA workshops in late 2013 and early 2014. They were attended by more than 30 DICA staff each day, many of them from regional offices, and were offered in both English and Burmese. Modules offered were:
-
Attracting Foreign Investment
-
Responsible Business Conduct
-
Handling Complaints and Grievances
-
The shift from CSR to Creating Shared Value (CSV)
-
Transparency and Stakeholder Engagement
The five Presentations are available to view or download below.
Vicky Bowman (MCRB Director), Hnin Wut Yee (MCRB Research and Outreach Manager) and Liya Mo (MCRB External Consultant) highlighted DICA’s increased role under the new Myanmar Investment Law to ensure responsible business conduct and provided insights into the way investors think, and good practice.
DICA staff discussed actual company case studies and what actions DICA should take to encourage responsible business in Myanmar.
MCRB plans to offer similar training modules with the Regional Government, following the roll-out of the new Myanmar Investment Law and Rules.
