Update on Business and Human Rights Risks in Myanmar for Thai Companies
On 13 July, MCRB and Fair Finance Thailand co-hosted a webinar for Thai companies and other interested stakeholders.
Vicky Bowman, Director of MCRB, presented the human rights risks which companies currently need to take into account when doing business in or trading with Myanmar, and how these connected to international obligations, including increasing international requirements for human rights due diligence of supply chains, and reporting.
Vicky's presentation covered the important role that Thai companies play, whether as investors in Myanmar, sourcing commodities from Myanmar, or employing Myanmar migrant labour in Thailand.
Dr. Lalita Harnwong, Lecturer at Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kasetsart University presented on the Myanmar context from a Thai perspective.
