Developing a human rights policy for your company

Wednesday, 22 October, 8.30am-1pm, Sagawa Space, Diamond Condo

Agenda: Developing a Human Rights Policy Workshop, 22 October 2014
Document PDF, 761 downloads, 07 October, 2014

This workshop is open to all Myanmar businesses interested in developing or improving their approach to respect for human rights, and communicating what they do to their stakeholders.  Human rights that business have a responsibility to respect include those relating to health, safety and the environment, as well as respect for employee rights, consumer rights, and the rights of local communities.

The responsibility of business to respect human rights is covered by the UN Global Compact Principles.  The workshop should therefore be useful for companies who are signatories to the UN Global Compact or considering joining.  A maximum of 3 personnel from senior management, especially those working in human resources, compliance, community and corporate relations, and communication, are encouraged to attend the event, which is free of charge. If there is additional interest, we will repeat the workshop.

The workshop will take place in Myanmar and English languages with consecutive interpretation.

Additional information about the event, together with details about how to get to the venue at the Sagawa Space, Diamond Condo, are enclosed. We would be extremely grateful if you could R.S.V.P by no later than Thursday, 16 October 2014 to . Please advise us of any special mobility requirements you may have.

We are also organising a separate workshop on human rights reporting on 3 November.  This will also include a consultation on the draft principles of RAFI, the Reporting and Assurance Framework Initiative and will be targeted at both Myanmar and international companies.
